| Interventional Pain Therapies: Complications, Preventive Strategies, and Risk Management | |||
| An increased demand for interventional pain therapies has led to a dramatic increase in the number of physicians providing these services and the number of these therapies being performed. Adverse outcomes associated with interventional pain procedures have increased in frequency and are receiving the attention of physician groups, directors of hospital and outpatient facilities, insurance carriers, and attorneys. This seminar will provide a comprehensive overview of potential complications arising from interventional pain therapies, preventive strategies to minimize their occurrence, and risk-management techniques to minimize patient and physician impact. The faculty will provide an overview of anatomic considerations, equipment, and techniques that may lead to adverse outcomes. We will review how to recognize, rapidly respond to, and longitudinally manage complications when they occur. Riskmanagement strategies will also be reviewed. This seminar is essential for any Pain Medicine physician who provides interventional therapies and desires to improve patient safety and minimize risk following an adverse event. | |||
