| (306) Laws and Regulations Governing Opioid Analgesics for Pain Management: Progress, Clinical Relevance, and Future Directions | |||
| This course will highlight recent research on the content of state policies governing the use of opioid analgesics to treat pain, review the influence of state civil and criminal case law on the standard of care related to opioid prescribing, and provide practical information about what can be done to improve policy. The course attempts to define the interactions among law enforcements’ efforts to prevent the illegal diversion of prescription medications, healthcare regulators’ efforts to promote appropriate professional practice and correct unprofessional conduct, and clinicians’ efforts to treat patients with chronic pain. | |||
